Finance Expert wowed by new £177m reveal at Elland Road

Dan Plumley enthusiastically praised Leeds United after the most recent release of the Deloitte Football Money League, which revealed that the Whites outperformed some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

During the 2022/23 season, Leeds, while in the Premier League, secured the 27th spot in global football, generating a revenue of £177.6 million.

The football finance expert acknowledged that with the 49ers Enterprises now involved, the potential for growth is significant if Leeds quickly return to the Premier League this season.

“It emphasizes some key points,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“One being the stark financial gap between the Premier League and the rest of Europe, and when you consider the clubs in the top 20 of the money league and the positions 21-30, it’s clear where the financial power lies.

“We understand that much of this is driven by Premier League broadcasting revenue, so it’s expected that Leeds United may fall out of this list in the next iteration due to their current status in the Championship. However, if they can swiftly return to the Premier League and then reignite the revenue boost from broadcasting, along with the broader potential of the club and its ownership, then the potential becomes evident.

“It’s unlikely that we will see Leeds in the top 30 in the next edition, but if they can make a quick return to the Premier League, they will once again be in contention from a revenue standpoint, outperforming some major players in the European football market.”

Leeds United back to the Premier League
The Whites broke another EFL record on their way to another victory against Plymouth, propelling them back to second place in the Championship.

With a crucial match against Leicester scheduled for Friday, February 23rd at Elland Road, the opportunity to close the gap to six points behind the leaders is within reach.

Hopefully, promotion back to the Premier League can be secured before the nerves begin to set in.
