Everton fan Tony Bellew sends heartfelt message to Liverpool youngster after senior debut

Everton supporter Tony Bellew went against rivalry expectations to offer his congratulations to Liverpool’s newest recruit.

Sending a heartfelt message to 18-year-old Jayden Danns after his first professional appearance against Luton, the former cruiserweight world champion couldn’t contain his excitement. Danns replaced Luis Diaz in the 89th minute of a 4-1 victory and was showered with love at full time.

Jurgen Klopp was spotted giving Danns, a long-time academy prospect, a warm embrace as he made his Premier League debut. Even the opposition manager, Rob Edwards, who previously worked with Danns in England’s under 16s, joined in the celebration.

Bellew took to social media to express his delight, praising Danns for his hard work and dedication to the sport, saying “Truly amazing! This young man has worked so hard and dedicated his whole life to football! To see him make his Premier League debut makes me so happy and proud of him! Keep shining J you’re doing great young king..”

Danns comes from a footballing family, with his father Neil also a professional footballer who was born and raised in Liverpool. Although Neil never made a first team appearance for Liverpool, he did debut with Blackburn in the top flight and later played for Crystal Palace.

Having been with Liverpool since the age of eight, Danns currently plays for their under 18s and has already scored ten goals in the 2022/23 season.

With Liverpool facing an injury crisis, Klopp has called upon youth players like Danns to step up. With ten first team players sidelined and key players like Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Mohamed Salah out of action, Danns may once again be called upon to fill the void as the team prepares for the Carabao Cup final on February 25th against Chelsea.
