Leicester City boss singles out ‘fantastic’ Leeds United danger-men amid Manchester City comparison

Enzo Maresca, head coach of Leicester City, has pinpointed Leeds United’s attacking quartet as he reflects on his past experiences at Elland Road while working as an assistant for Manchester City. Having previously been part of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff at the Etihad Stadium, Maresca remembers fondly the 4-0 victory when he visited Elland Road. Now, as head coach of Leicester, he anticipates a different reception from the home supporters as Leeds aims to hand the league leaders a consecutive defeat.

Both Leeds and Leicester have achieved doubles over several Championship teams this season, and tonight’s match pits the top two teams against each other, with both boasting the best defensive records in the division. However, only Leeds has the opportunity to complete a double against their opponents in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday night, having already defeated the Foxes 1-0 at the King Power Stadium earlier this season.

Maresca is well aware of the intimidating atmosphere at Elland Road and hopes his team can execute a gameplan to quiet the home crowd. “It will be crucial if we can dampen the atmosphere,” he stated to Midlands reporters on Thursday afternoon. While acknowledging Leeds’ strong home record, Maresca also noted that the team has had losses at Elland Road in the past, including Manchester City’s victory during his time there.

Leeds’ front four, consisting of Willy Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville, Joel Piroe, and Georginio Rutter, has evolved throughout the season and is expected to be a formidable force for Leicester’s visit.
