Following Leeds United’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship last season, many of their key players left the club. Tyler Adams (Bournemouth) and Rodrigo (Al-Rayyan) permanently departed, while Robin Koch (Eintracht Frankfurt), Max Wober (Borussia Monchengladbach), Brenden Aaronson (Union Berlin), Luis Sinisterra (Bournemouth), Marc Roca (Real Betis), and Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente (both Roma) went out on initial loans.
On that list was also Jack Harrison, whose loan move to Everton did not include an option to buy, leaving the possibility open for him to return to Leeds.
The tension between the two clubs was evident as Leeds called for the Premier League to take action against Everton amid an investigation into financial rule breaches.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson suggested that neither Daniel Farke nor the Elland Road faithful would be enthusiastic about reintegrating Harrison if he returned.
Harrison’s departure left a “sour taste,” but he has performed well with Everton and seems unlikely to return to Leeds. For the club, the focus should be on maximizing the potential value of his departure. With his performance, age, and contract situation, a fee in the region of £17m should be attainable, making it a positive outcome for all parties involved.
