Deco’s recent comments in the media suggest that FC Barcelona is shifting its focus to the physical side of the game for their next project. As a result, the Catalan club is eyeing several players, including 22-year-old Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.
His youth and physicality make the Belgian international an attractive target for Barcelona, and Everton is open to selling him due to their institutional problems and a recent points reduction penalty. The Premier League side acquired Onana for €35 million and now hopes to sell him for almost double that amount, €60 million.
Unfortunately for Barcelona, this price tag is out of their reach but within the reach of English sides like Arsenal and Manchester United, who are also interested in the midfielder. Everton is not willing to negotiate with Barcelona and has made it clear that they will not lower their asking price.
Deco may have to consider including a current Barcelona player in the deal to acquire Onana. With time still left before the summer transfer window opens, he has the opportunity to weigh his options and find the best way forward.
