‘wouldn’t be surprised’ by David Moyes development; Sky pundit

Sue Smith is hopeful that West Ham will secure a win against Brentford to ease some of the uncertainty surrounding David Moyes’ future.

Moyes recently disclosed that he has received a new contract offer from London Stadium, but he is holding off on making a decision at the moment.

The team is currently on an eight-game winless streak in 2024, with the last three losses totaling 11-0.

Despite this, Smith is confident that the upcoming match against Brentford on Monday is the type of game that Moyes has a history of winning.

“We always say Moyes is under pressure but he has a track record of getting results when necessary,” she said to Sky Sports News.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he delivers a positive outcome tonight.”

The reason Moyes has not yet signed the new contract is due to the team’s poor performance as of late.

Although Moyes has plenty of supporters, signing the contract now could result in a negative overall response.

If he had done so after the wins over Manchester United and Arsenal in December, the situation would have been different.

As it stands, the team urgently needs to end their losing streak before the season deteriorates further.

While there is still the Europa League to consider, the team’s current form suggests they may struggle against Freiburg.

The upcoming match against Brentford, with the addition of a fit Lucas Paqueta, seems like the perfect opportunity to change their current trajectory.

In other West Ham news, there have been reports of a potential move for a manager from a Premier League rival.
