Thomas Frank has recently explained that Brentford has no immediate plans to decide on whether to permanently transfer Neal Maupay from Everton.
The French striker returned to Brentford on loan from Goodison Park after a disappointing stint with the Toffees, where he only managed to score two goals in 34 appearances during the 2022/23 season.
Since rejoining Brentford, Maupay has been thriving alongside Ivan Toney, scoring eight goals in 23 games and bringing a new spark to the Gtech Community Stadium.
In an interview with the Evening Standard, Frank stated that they are not in a rush to make any transfer decisions, including Maupay’s, and will review their options at the end of the season.
Given Maupay’s resurgence at Brentford and his struggles at Everton, it could be in the best interest of both clubs for his transfer to be made permanent. With Toney possibly leaving, Brentford could benefit from securing Maupay, while Everton could use his goal-scoring abilities to improve their attacking options.
The 27-year-old’s return to form has shed light on his potential to make a lasting impact in the Premier League, but concerns about his temperament and behavior on the pitch still hover over him.
Both Brentford and Everton are in need of more goals, with Everton currently ranking third-lowest in the division for scoring. It will be intriguing to see how both clubs approach the decision on Maupay’s future at the end of the season and whether they believe he can continue to shine in the Premier League.
