‘I WAS DISAPPOINTED’ – WEST HAM MAN REACT ON HIS MOVE TO LYON ALMOST COLLAPSING

In a recent interview with Téléfoot, Saïd Benrahma shared details about the dramatic near-collapse of his anticipated transfer from West Ham to Lyon on deadline day of the January transfer window. As the minutes counted down to the window’s conclusion, Lyon found themselves in a race against time to secure the loan move of Benrahma from West Ham until the end of the season. However, with the clock ticking and the paperwork delays at hand, the 28-year-old’s transfer to Lyon appeared to be in doubt, reaching a point where the club feared that the deal had completely fallen through.

In light of the uncertain situation, Lyon expressed frustration at West Ham’s ‘incomprehensible behaviour’ due to their failure to submit the necessary documentation in a timely manner. Nevertheless, despite the setback, FIFA eventually granted the approval needed for the transfer, enabling Lyon to sign Benrahma on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy, against all odds.

Reflecting on the tumultuous turn of events, Benrahma voiced his disappointment at the initial obstacles, stating, “I was disappointed. What they did in Lyon was incredible. They were in the offices until 3:00 am, 3:30 am. They really wanted me! They gave everything and it was finalized.” His remarks shed light on Lyon’s unwavering commitment and determination to secure his transfer, underscoring the club’s relentless efforts and relentless pursuit of the player’s arrival.
