DRASTIC DECISION: Leeds United told to make Liam Cooper decision as Premier League point made

Leeds United icon Brian Deane suggests that Liam Cooper should consider leaving the club if they secure promotion. Despite being a key player in their previous promotion under Marcelo Bielsa, Cooper has seen limited game time under Daniel Farke this season. The center-back has only made 17 appearances across all competitions in 2023/24, with Farke favoring Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon in defense.

With Leeds boasting a strong defensive record this year, Deane believes it may be time for Cooper to seek a new challenge elsewhere. While acknowledging his positive influence in the dressing room, Deane argues that lack of game time could hinder his progress. As a former player who understands the frustration of sitting on the bench, Deane suggests that Cooper should prioritize regular playing time over loyalty to the club.

“If Leeds get promoted, it might be best for Cooper to explore other opportunities and secure a good contract elsewhere. The team will likely need to refresh their squad in that position, and keeping him on may not guarantee him playing time,” Deane expressed to Football League World. “It’s important for players to think about their future and prioritize getting on the pitch regularly. Cooper has been a fantastic servant to Leeds, but it might be time for both parties to reach a mutual agreement for his departure.”
