MASTERCLASS- “Outstanding” Leeds star wants to sign long term deal

Leeds United’s hopes of securing automatic promotion received a significant boost with reports emerging that Joe Rodon is set to pledge his future to Elland Road, all thanks to the influence of Lilywhite boss Daniel Farke. The recent victory over Sheffield Wednesday saw Leeds leapfrog Ipswich Town into second place in the Championship standings. With the race for promotion heating up, the need for a record points tally to secure a Premier League return looms large, with Leeds currently sitting on 79 points with nine matches remaining.

The performance of Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnonto, who scored in the win over Sheffield Wednesday, highlighted the team’s determination and consistency. However, it is Rodon’s potential commitment to the club that could prove to be a crucial move regardless of Leeds’ divisional status next season. Reports suggest that Rodon, valued at around £15 million by Spurs, has been informed by manager Ange Postecoglou that he has no future at the London club, paving the way for a permanent switch to Leeds.

Rodon, who is set to be out of contract in 2025, could provide stability and quality to Leeds’ defense for the long term. His reported contentment in Yorkshire and desire to sign a long-term deal is a testament to the positive environment created by Farke at the club. Since his arrival at Elland Road for the 2023/24 campaign, Rodon has been a standout performer, appearing 34 times and playing a key role in the team’s solid defensive record, conceding only 28 goals all season.

Former Leeds player Jon Newsome has praised Rodon’s performances, with the Welsh defender earning plaudits for his commanding displays at the back. Despite his success at Leeds, Rodon’s future at Tottenham appears uncertain following the arrival of new central defenders, potentially opening the door for a full-time move to Leeds. As Leeds continues to push for promotion, securing Rodon’s services could prove to be a pivotal step in their long-term plans under Farke’s leadership.
