“PROHIBITIVE” Everton asking price for star proving ‘prohibitive’ – Club could ‘withdraw from the bid’

Despite Barcelona’s interest in Everton star Amadou Onana, a move to the Spanish club looks increasingly uncertain. The midfielder’s asking price is reportedly too high for Barcelona to meet, with Sport detailing that the Blaugrana have decided to steer clear of pursuing Onana due to Everton’s valuation of the player.

Barcelona has been on the hunt for a defensive midfielder this transfer window, but their financial constraints have complicated their search. With big names like Bruno Guimaraes and Joshua Kimmich already off the table, Onana emerged as a potential target for Barcelona.

While Barcelona sees Onana as a physical marvel and is willing to offer €45m for his signature, Everton’s asking price of €60m has proven to be a major stumbling block. This has led to doubts about whether a deal between the two clubs can be struck, as Barcelona may struggle to generate the additional funds necessary to meet Everton’s demands.

Without the ability to generate significant revenue through player sales, Barcelona may have to reconsider their pursuit of Onana. This could open the door for other clubs to swoop in and secure the services of the talented midfielder, leaving Barcelona to explore alternative options to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
