DONE DEAL- FULL AGREEMENT REACHED: West Ham gem finalises new London Stadium contract

West Ham United confirmed that Josh Briggs has signed his first professional contract in East London. The announcement was made on the club’s official website on Thursday (21 March), revealing that the 18-year-old had committed his future to the London Stadium earlier this month.

Originally from North Belfast, Briggs was signed by David Moyes’ side in August 2022 from NIFL Premiership team Linfield. After graduating from the Irish FA JD Academy, Briggs impressed during his first season in England, making 18 appearances and playing a key role in the Hammers’ FA Youth Cup and Under-18 Premier League South victories.

Despite being relatively unknown to some supporters, Briggs’ talent and potential have not gone unnoticed. As a Northern Ireland Under-19 international, the centre-back has already made a significant impact on the pitch, scoring a crucial goal in the final to help secure the Under-18 Premier League South title for West Ham.

With 14 appearances and two goals in the current season, Briggs is continuing to develop and show promise as a player. If he maintains his progress, it is only a matter of time before he is a regular fixture in David Moyes’ lineup at the London Stadium. Exciting times lie ahead for West Ham United and their young star Josh Briggs.
