Riding a nine-game winning streak, the Boston Celtics are on the verge of securing the top seed in the Eastern Conference as they head to Atlanta for a crucial two-game series on Monday.
With a record of 57-14, Boston only needs one more win or a loss by the Milwaukee Bucks to clinch the top spot for the playoffs. Another victory would make this season their best since 2008-09 when they finished 62-20.
Despite dealing with injuries to key players like Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford, and Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics have managed to maintain the best record in the league.
“We’re keeping the hunger alive,” said Sam Hauser after their recent win over the Chicago Bulls. “We won’t let up until we reach our goals.”
Atlanta, sitting at No. 10 in the East with a record of 31-39, faces an uphill battle to make the playoffs. Bruno Fernando’s standout performance in their last game gives them hope, but the team is still plagued by injuries to Trae Young, Jalen Johnson, and Saddiq Bey.
Despite the challenges, the Hawks are determined to make the most of their home games against tough opponents like Boston and Milwaukee, in hopes of chasing down a playoff spot.
“We’re focused on taking advantage of every opportunity,” said Fernando. “We’re not going to give up until the very end.”
As the regular season winds down, Boston and Atlanta are both gearing up for a high-stakes showdown that could have major implications on their playoff aspirations.
