Leeds United’s pursuit of their target is now in jeopardy as a new club swoops in to snatch them away, intensifying the already fierce competition in the saturated ‘market’.

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon permanently this summer, potentially challenging Leeds United for his signature. According to TEAMtalk, Rodon has emerged as an option for Eddie Howe’s side as they look to strengthen their defensive line ahead of next season.

Leeds secured the 26-year-old centre-back on loan last August, and he has since become a key player for them under Daniel Farke’s management. With 39 appearances in all competitions this season, Rodon’s performances have been instrumental in helping Leeds climb to the top of the table in the Championship.

Having fallen out of favor at Spurs, Rodon’s future with the club is uncertain, making a permanent move this transfer window likely. The Wales international began his career with Swansea City before moving to Tottenham, where he struggled to make an impact.

However, his loan spell at Leeds has been successful, raising questions about where he will play next season. Leeds’ hopes of retaining Rodon may hinge on their promotion prospects, with Newcastle’s interest potentially complicating matters.
