Daniel Farke, the manager of Leeds United, has shared the latest team news ahead of their Championship return match against Watford on Good Friday. There are doubts surrounding the availability of five players in particular.
Georginio Rutter and Connor Roberts are facing uncertainties due to injuries, while Junior Firpo’s participation is in question because of his recent international duty with the Dominican Republic. Farke explained during a press conference that despite Rutter’s return to training following surgery, there are still doubts about his involvement.
Additionally, Willy Gnonto is dealing with a hamstring issue after playing for Italy’s under-21 team, and Ilia Gruev has an ankle ligament injury from representing Bulgaria. Farke also mentioned that Pascal Struijk has undergone successful surgery for a cartilage problem but will be out for the rest of the season, while Stuart Dallas continues his recovery from a femoral fracture.
Farke expressed his concerns about the players’ availability, stating that their statuses are uncertain at this time. Despite the challenges, he remains cautiously optimistic about Rutter’s inclusion in the squad. As for Roberts, Gnonto, and Gruev, their injuries raise doubts about their ability to play.
The manager also explained that Firpo’s participation is up in the air due to his late return from international duty. However, he emphasized that decisions will be made following assessments closer to matchday.
Regarding Struijk, Farke revealed that the surgery went well, but the defender will miss the remainder of the season. Despite the setbacks, Farke remains hopeful for his team’s performance in the upcoming match.
