Sky Sports co-commentator Don Goodman pointed out the ongoing issue that Liam Rosenior and his squad have struggled to overcome throughout the Championship season following Hull City’s 3-1 loss to Leeds United on Monday.
Despite a strong first half at Elland Road, City managed to equalize through Fabio Carvalho and held 67 per cent possession, controlling the game for long periods. Unfortunately, they were unable to maintain their lead and were ultimately punished in the final minutes when Regan Slater conceded a penalty, allowing Leeds to secure the win.
Dan James sealed the victory with a goal in stoppage time, leaving City chasing an equalizer. Despite their domination of possession and strong performance, the team’s lack of efficiency in front of goal was evident once again, with only two shots on target.
The loss, following another defeat over Easter weekend, has seen Hull drop to 10th in the table with only seven games remaining. Goodman, who observed the match live for Sky Sports, highlighted the importance of testing the opposing goalkeeper, which has been a consistent issue for the team in recent weeks.
“It was a tense match,” Goodman commented on Sky Sports News. “Leeds’ last two performances against Watford and Hull have been unconvincing. However, they managed to secure four points, despite not playing at their best, demonstrating their ability to grind out results when needed.
“Hull showed dominance in possession, but failed to create clear-cut opportunities. Leeds faced a tough test, with Elland Road unusually quiet for much of the game, but they proved their character and secured the victory.
“Despite a challenging Easter weekend, the four points earned by Leeds are crucial. Daniel Farke has done an impressive job with the team.”
