Despite speculation about Sean Dyche’s future as manager, The Athletic reporter David Ornstein believes Everton have bigger issues to address than the coach’s position. The club could face additional points deductions under PSR rules, potentially leading to relegation. In the midst of a potential takeover and a move from their historic home at Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock, Everton is grappling with monumental challenges off the pitch.
Ornstein argues that Dyche is doing the best he can under difficult circumstances, with Everton performing adequately on the field considering the turmoil behind the scenes. Despite a winless streak of 10 games, Ornstein suggests that Dyche’s job security should be the least of Everton’s concerns at the moment.
In addition to Everton, Nottingham Forest also faced a points deduction for PSR violations, sparking concerns about the competitiveness of the Premier League. Clubs are reportedly considering abolishing points deductions in favor of a “luxury tax” to safeguard the division’s status.
