Two devoted Everton supporters, Andy Bell and George Downing, are on the verge of taking full control of the club after journalist Alan Nixon revealed that 777 Partners’ takeover bid is progressing slowly. According to Nixon, Bell and Downing are poised to step in and secure the future of the club amidst doubts surrounding 777 Partners’ ability to provide the necessary funds to lift Everton out of financial difficulties.
With successful backgrounds in finance and property, Bell and Downing have been in discussions with 777 regarding the purchase of Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. However, Nixon reports that they are also willing to take on ownership of the entire club if necessary.
Nixon further stated that although Bell and Downing are hesitant about fully owning and financing the club, they are prepared to do so if 777 Partners encounter any obstacles in the future. This suggests that both Nixon and the duo are not fully convinced by the American investment group’s plans to restore Everton to financial stability in the Premier League.
Although Everton recently secured a much-needed victory in the Premier League against Burnley, the off-field pressures continue to mount.
