Scott Brown completely Humiliated me and destroyed my pride during the Celtic trial.

An ex-Celtic trialist has shared how he took Scott Brown’s training gear after the Hoops captain ’embarrassed’ him during his unsuccessful tryout. This incident led Dane David Boysen to become a fan of rival team Rangers. Boysen traveled to Scotland in January 2010 during Neil Lennon’s tenure and played in a reserve team trial match where Brown was also present as he recovered from injury.

Boysen, who was with AB Copenhagen at the time and later played for various clubs in his native Denmark, as well as in Holland and Israel, recently recounted his time at Celtic on a Danish podcast. He recalled, “I quickly realized my trial at Celtic wasn’t going to work out. In a trial match, I scored the winning goal, but Scott Brown, the captain, was playing for the reserve team that day.

“Brown asked the coach to substitute me right after my goal. He had been disrespectful to me leading up to that moment as well. So, feeling fed up, I and my friend sneaked into the dressing room and stole Brown’s training gear. We then went to McDonald’s and later to a strip club. The next day, I was supposed to train before flying home, but Celtic didn’t see me again after that incident.”
