Carl Starfelt’s move from Celtic to Celta Vigo in the summer of 2023 hasn’t been without its challenges. The 28-year-old has been struggling with health issues, largely stemming from damp and mould in his home in Spain. These problems have led to respiratory issues and disrupted sleep patterns, prompting him to seek refuge in a travel tavern.
Despite these setbacks, Starfelt has managed to make a positive impact on the field for Los Celestes this season. With 23 appearances in La Liga and a goal to his name, the Swedish international has proven his worth in defense.
In a recent interview with Swedish media, Starfelt revealed the extent of his struggles: “I was constantly falling ill in the beginning, feeling tired and having difficulty breathing. It was a challenging time. After some investigation, I discovered a hole in the roof of my home that was causing excess moisture and mould. Moving to a hotel has been a game-changer for me. I have fully recovered and have no plans to return to my previous living situation, even if the issue is resolved. I will continue to stay in a hotel for the remainder of the season.”
