How Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds can secure automatic promotion this week

Leicester City is on the verge of securing a return to the Premier League with a win over Southampton on Tuesday. After a rough patch in recent months, the Foxes are now back in control of their fate, currently leading the Championship table. With just a couple of games left, Leicester needs to win two out of their three remaining matches to guarantee automatic promotion.

Their nearest contenders, Ipswich Town and Leeds United, are still in the mix but Leicester can secure promotion by maintaining their lead. If Leicester beats Southampton and Leeds loses to Middlesbrough, the Foxes could clinch promotion midweek. Winning the last three games would also secure them the Championship title.

Southampton remains a threat, not far behind in the standings. They will face crucial matches against Leeds and Stoke in the coming weeks. The battle for the final promotion spot could come down to a dramatic showdown between Southampton and Leeds on the last day of the season. Until then, all three teams will be vying for their spot in the top two and the chance to compete in the play-offs.

If it comes down to goal difference, Leicester and Leeds are currently in a favorable position. Ipswich and Leeds are also neck and neck, making the race for the second promotion spot even more intense. The play-offs are set to begin on Sunday 12 May, with the potential for thrilling matches leading up to the Championship final at Wembley on Sunday 26 May.
