Leeds United wasted the golden opportunity to clinch the Championship title and they can only point the finger at themselves for their failure.

This was never how it was supposed to end. The dream of clinching automatic promotion for Leeds United is slipping away, hanging by a thread as they head into the final week of a tumultuous season.

Despite holding onto second place in the Championship, the Whites are facing a crisis of form and results at a critical time. Just a few weeks ago, they were flying high after a 2-0 victory over Millwall put them at the top of the table. But since then, it has been a downward spiral, with only two wins in seven matches and a leaky defense letting in thirteen goals.

Manager Daniel Farke has seen his team struggle to maintain their title challenge, with key players sidelined by injuries and a lack of efficiency in both boxes. While the battle for promotion remains open, United’s fate hangs in the balance as they head into the final stretch of the season.

Despite the setbacks, Farke deserves credit for transforming Leeds from a struggling team into promotion contenders. However, if they miss out on automatic promotion and have to settle for the playoffs, it will be a bitter pill to swallow after a season of highs and lows.
