The SPFL Manager of the Year shortlist has been revealed, featuring Kilmarnock’s Derek McInnes, Dundee’s Tony Docherty, and Falkirk’s John McGlynn. It’s award season in the world of football, and the Managers and Coaches Association has been busy selecting the top bosses in the senior men’s leagues. McInnes has secured European football for Kilmarnock, making him a strong contender for the award for the first time since 2014.
Docherty, who took over Dundee in May, has led the team to a top six finish and a possible European spot. McGlynn of Falkirk is also in the running after guiding his team to an undefeated season and the League One championship. With no Philippe Clement or Brendan Rodgers in the mix, these three managers have truly stood out.
This year, it seems likely that a non-Old Firm manager will take home the trophy, breaking a streak of wins by managers from those clubs. In the SWPL, Rangers’ Jo Potter, Partick Thistle’s Brian Graham, and Hibs’ Grant Scott are also up for the award, showing the depth of talent in Scottish football management.
