The report confirmed that a penalty wrongly awarded to Celtic should have been reviewed, while the penalty they conceded was deemed correct. The report also upheld the decision regarding Yang’s sending off.
After criticizing VAR official John Beaton and being charged by the SFA, Rodgers received a two-game ban, with one game suspended. In response to the SFA’s acknowledgment of officiating errors, Rodgers told Celtic TV, “My feeling at the time was that they weren’t correct. It just confirms where we were at. It’s in the past, we served our punishment, didn’t get the result, and now we move forward.”
When asked about the benefits of the SFA admitting mistakes for VAR improvement, Rodgers emphasized the importance of transparency and courage in acknowledging errors. He expressed the need for resources to support referees with the best technology and education. While commending the SFA for their transparency, Rodgers highlighted that it doesn’t change his perspective on the incidents.
