The Scottish Football Association has announced the officiating team for the upcoming highly anticipated Old Firm match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park this weekend.
With just three matches left in the cinch Premiership season, the outcome of this clash could have a major impact on the title race, as Celtic currently hold a three point lead over their rivals from Glasgow.
Willie Collum, a seasoned referee, has been chosen to officiate the game, marking his 11th time overseeing an Old Firm fixture. Collum previously served as VAR in a contentious match at Parkhead in December, where Rangers were adamant that they were denied a penalty for an alleged handball by Alistair Johnston.
Despite reports of possible animosity between Rangers and Collum, the experienced referee will be leading the officiating team alongside David McGeachie and Ross Macleod, with Don Robertson as fourth official. On VAR duty will be Steven MacLean, assisted by Graeme Stewart. The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 2-1 victory for Celtic, with Rangers finishing the match with 10 men due to a red card given to defender Leon Balogun.
