Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been nominated for the Scottish Football Writers Association (SFWA) William Hill Manager of the Year award this year. Despite his success with the team, rival Brendan Rodgers did not make it onto the four-man shortlist.
Clement’s impressive turnaround since taking over from the previous manager in October has seen Rangers on the cusp of winning a domestic Treble. Despite trailing Celtic by seven points in the Scottish Premiership when he began his tenure, Clement led the team to victory in the League Cup against Aberdeen at Hampden and secured a spot in the Scottish Cup final against Celtic later this month. However, recent weeks have seen Rangers lose the title initiative as Celtic now hold a six-point lead.
The shortlist for the award also includes PFA Scotland Manager of the Year John McGlynn, Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes, who has secured European qualification for next season, and Tony Docherty for guiding Dundee into the top six in their first season back in the top flight.
The winner of the Manager of the Year award will be announced at an awards dinner in Glasgow on Sunday, May 19 along with other SPFL awards. Last season’s winner was Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.
