Celtic fans can always rely on a Glasgow Derby to generate some controversy and headlines long after the game has ended.Defeating Rangers on Saturday left the Celtic fans feeling overjoyed as they took a massive step closer to the title. However, former Rangers striker, Kenny Miller, was fuming. Not just by the result but also by the decision to send off John Lundstram for his reckless challenge against Celtic defender, Alistair Johnston.Weirdly, it also seemed to annoy Graeme Souness as well but for the life of me, I can’t see why. And neither can former SFA Grade 1 referee, Steve Conroy.Miller’s strange Celtic comments pilloriedLundstram’s tackle is one of the worst I have seen in a Glasgow Derby in a long time. Studs were high, he was out of control and could have caused a serious injury. And that is why Conroy admits he is not in Miller’s ‘camp’ when it comes to the former Rangers man’s views on the tackle.Conroy said [Behind the Whistles], “Well, I can I can certainly say I’m not in Kenny Miller’s camp for those comments.“I understand why as an ex-player you think that you can try and defend one of your colleagues.“That’s indefensible. That is totally indefensible. That is a red card every day of the week.“He’s come through high, he’s come through at speed. He is endangering the safety of the opponent.“That is ticking all the boxes for red cards. And I completely understand that he’s now retracted his comments and he is trying to go back but is purely to save face.“That’s a red card every day of the week. And I will say one thing. Steven McLean was absolutely correct to get involved and to tell Willie that it was a red card.”To put this into context. Willie Collum saw a replay of the tackle maybe two or three times before he decided to upgrade the yellow to red.I’ve seen it plenty of times and no one will convince me otherwise that Lundstram deserved to walk. Miller has probably watched it more than me and for him to still believe that the red was harsh really is, like Conroy said, indefensible.
