One player they had pursued in January, Manuel Benson from Burnley, missed out on the opportunity to join Leeds and has since struggled for game time. His decision to stay put at Burnley has not paid off, with limited minutes on the pitch since December and Burnley’s relegation confirmed.
Another near miss for Leeds in January was right-back Daiki Hashioka, who opted for Luton Town’s offer of Premier League football. However, Luton’s relegation now seems inevitable, leaving Hashioka with little to show for his decision to stay in the top-flight.
Both Benson and Hashioka may now be rueing their decisions not to join Leeds in January, where they would have had more opportunities for game time and the chance to be part of a promotion-winning team.
