Martin O’Neill savagely tears Rangers apart on talkSPORT, proclaiming Celtic’s superiority as unmatched and undeniable

Martin O’Neill strongly disagreed with Graeme Souness when it came to assessing the quality gap between Rangers and Celtic.

Despite Souness suggesting the two teams were evenly matched, O’Neill was adamant that Rangers were below par in their recent match against Celtic, pointing out that it was the worst performance he had seen from them in years. He particularly criticized John Lundstram for his sending off and labeled the overall team as “desperately poor.”

In O’Neill’s eyes, the Rangers side of the past would have easily beaten the current team. He emphasized the need for Rangers to invest in better players in order to bridge the gap between them and Celtic.

While Souness tried to argue that excluding Old Firm results would show the teams as equal, O’Neill disagreed, stating that the games between the two sides always play a significant role in determining the title winner.

O’Neill did acknowledge that Rangers have improved under Philippe Clement but still believes they need more top-quality players to truly compete with Celtic. The focus will now shift to the upcoming summer transfer window as Rangers look to strengthen their squad.
