MSP Demand severe Punishment: Outrage in Parliament as MSP Demands Celtic City Title Celebration to Result in Points Deduction

An MSP representing Glasgow Shettleston strongly criticized the unofficial Celtic title celebration that took place in the city center’s Trongate area after a Scottish Premiership match at Celtic Park. The event, organized by fan groups like The Green Brigade, drew thousands of fans to Glasgow Cross to celebrate the team’s championship victory. However, reports indicated that the celebration led to four police officers injured and 19 people arrested.

MSP John Mason condemned the disruption caused by the gathering, highlighting the impact on local businesses and residents. He suggested that clubs should take more responsibility for their fans and proposed measures like fan zones and strict liability to prevent future incidents.

In response, Scottish Government minister Siobhian Brown echoed Mason’s concerns and expressed support for continued collaboration between authorities, fan groups, and football clubs to address such issues. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that football matches are enjoyable for everyone and encouraged dialogue between clubs and local authorities to organize safe events for fans while minimizing community disruption.
