DONE DEAL Rangers celebrate record-breaking signing while Celtic desperately chase top-tier international left-back

Reports indicate that Rangers are on the brink of finalizing the signing of Brazilian defender Jefte. The left-back, currently on loan at APOEL Nicosia from Fluminese, was a target for Rangers in January but the deal fell through due to complications with APOEL Nicosia. However, a verbal agreement was made for Rangers to secure Jefte’s signature in the summer transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Jefte is set to undergo medical tests and sign a contract with Rangers, making him the club’s first signing of the summer. Left-back is a key position for Rangers with the potential departure of Borna Barisic and uncertainty surrounding Ridvan Yilmaz’s future.

On the other side of Glasgow, Celtic are also in the market for a left-back and are eyeing Georgian international Irakli Azarovi, who has impressed at Shakhtar Donetsk. The 22-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, including those in Serie A and Ligue 1.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his left-back options this summer, especially after Alexandro Bernabei’s loan move to Internacional. With Greg Taylor the only recognized first-team left-back, Rodgers is eager to add depth to his squad ahead of the new season.
