Celtic may face a summer bid for striker Kyogo Furuhashi, with J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds reportedly interested in the talisman. According to reports, the Diamonds are willing to break the J-League transfer record of £10m to secure Kyogo’s services from Celtic.
Kyogo, who joined Celtic in 2021 and quickly became a key player under former manager Ange Postecoglou, has scored 54 goals and provided 10 assists in 83 appearances for the club. However, with Postecoglou’s departure and Brendan Rodgers’ return, Kyogo has struggled to adjust to the changes at the club.
Despite some difficulties, Kyogo has still managed to score 19 goals and provide 5 assists in 50 appearances this season. Rodgers, who is looking to shape the team according to his preferences, has hinted at potential changes in the squad. There have been suggestions that Celtic could consider selling Kyogo, especially considering the financial benefits.
However, Kyogo remains a fan favorite and has proven his goal-scoring abilities time and time again. It would take a significant offer to tempt Celtic into selling the 29-year-old, especially given their financial stability and upcoming UEFA Champions League earnings.
Celtic are also reportedly looking to bring in Norwich’s Adam Idah in the summer to bolster their attacking options, especially if Kyogo were to depart. The club would need to sign two strikers to compensate for Kyogo’s potential departure in the transfer window.
