After seven successful years at Coventry City, midfielder Liam Kelly has decided to join Rotherham United in hopes of securing promotion to the Championship. The 34-year-old has signed a two-year contract at the New York Stadium after leaving the CBS Arena.
During his time at Coventry, Kelly played a crucial role in the team’s promotions from League Two and League One. He was instrumental in their near miss at Premier League promotion in 2023, coming just shy in a penalty shoot-out. However, as the squad underwent changes and upgrades by manager Mark Robins, Kelly found himself receiving fewer minutes on the field.
Steve Evans, the Rotherham United manager, made Kelly his seventh signing of the summer, adding experience and skill to the team alongside other newcomers. Departing Coventry alongside Kelly were Simon Moore, Dermi Lusala, and Bradley Stretton, while the club also said goodbye to Luis Binks as Luke Bell and Callum O’Hare were offered new contracts.
