The much-anticipated transfer of Jose Cordoba to Rangers has officially fallen through, as it has been confirmed that the defender will be signing for Norwich City instead. The Canaries made the announcement on social media, revealing that Cordoba will be joining them at Carrow Road on 14 June.
Although the deal is still pending international clearances and approval from the FA and EFL, Levski Sofia has agreed to the terms. Norwich Evening News reported that Rangers had been actively pursuing Cordoba, only for the centre-back to choose Norwich over them.
The Gers were reportedly close to signing Cordoba but ultimately lost out to Norwich City. This would have been their second signing of the transfer window, following the addition of Jefte in May.
The rejection of Cordoba is a blow to Rangers, who had high hopes for the Panama international. It is now back to the drawing board for Philippe Clement and his team, as they search for other potential signings to strengthen their squad.
Despite this setback, Rangers remain determined to secure cost-effective deals for players who can make a positive impact. The club will now shift their focus to other targets as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window.
