However, recent reports of Panathinaikos rejecting an offer from Ipswich Town for the striker raised concerns about losing the competition.
Despite the worries, newspaper O Jogo reassures Sporting that they shouldn’t be too anxious about the situation. They claim that Ioannidis, although dreaming of playing in the Premier League, is seeking a safe and consistent move, preferably signing a long-term contract with a club of a higher caliber.
Sporting, having recently clinched the Liga Portugal title and set to compete in the Champions League next season, has strong factors in their favor to secure the signing. Even with Ipswich Town offering €22m, Sporting remains confident in their bid to outshine them in the race for Ioannidis.
