Reports have indicated that Ipswich Town is on the verge of securing a significant £20 million signing from Chelsea as they gear up for their return to the Premier League. Initially facing uncertainty with Kieran McKenna being pursued by Brighton & Hove Albion, the former Manchester United assistant coach ultimately decided to stay at Portman Road.
With McKenna’s future secured, the focus has turned to recruitment, with Omari Hutchinson emerging as a key transfer target. Sources have revealed that negotiations between Ipswich and Chelsea are progressing well, with a deal worth approximately £20 million close to being finalized. Although there will be no buyback clause included in the agreement, a substantial sell-on clause is expected.
Hutchinson, who joined Ipswich last season from Arsenal, demonstrated his talent with 11 goals in 50 appearances, contributing to the club’s promotion to the Premier League. Despite interest from other teams, the Englishman was keen to continue working under McKenna. Additionally, Ipswich have set their sights on Brighton’s Carl Rushworth as their top goalkeeping target ahead of the upcoming season.
