DONE DEAL: Groundbreaking £10m deal ‘agreed’ for Everton star eyed by Leeds United and Sheffield United

Defender Ben Godfrey, who has been linked with Leeds United and Sheffield United, is on the verge of leaving Everton for Atalanta. The 26-year-old, who came through the youth systems of Middlesbrough and York City, was previously rumored to be headed to Yorkshire.

Godfrey found himself on the sidelines at Everton, leading to speculation that Sheffield United wanted him to bolster their defense. Leeds United also showed interest as they fought for promotion in the Championship.

Having played under Daniel Farke at Norwich City, a potential reunion did not materialize, and Godfrey remained at Goodison Park for the season. Now, it seems he is preparing to leave Merseyside to revive his career. Sky Sports reported that a £10m deal has been agreed with Atalanta in Serie A.

The transfer is said to include an initial fee of £8.5m, with additional bonuses worth up to £1.7m. Godfrey has already arrived in Italy for his medical examination, with hopes that both parties will successfully complete the deal.
