Jota is reportedly eager to make a comeback to Celtic this summer after a less-than-ideal stint in Saudi Arabia. The winger made the switch from Parkhead to the Middle East in a £25million deal last year, which set a record for a Scottish club. However, his time at Al-Ittihad turned sour when the club signed too many foreign players, leading to Jota being left off the Pro League roster.
This restriction meant he could only participate in Asian Champions League and cup matches, sparking immediate speculation about his departure. Premier League clubs, such as Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou, showed interest in securing the 25-year-old’s talents. Despite rumors of a Celtic return, Jota’s high salary at Ittihad might complicate matters, making a Premier League move a more feasible option. Newcastle and West Ham have also been mentioned as potential destinations.
Additionally, reports from Saudi Arabia suggest that Al-Ittihad is eyeing up Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, which could clear the path for Jota’s exit. The club seems prepared to offload several foreign players, including the former Celtic player, to make room for new signings.
