Chelsea have reportedly won the race to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester, beating Brighton to secure the midfielder. Despite the Seagulls’ long-standing interest in the player and attempts to sign him in January for £25m, Dewsbury-Hall looks set to reunite with former Leicester boss Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.
The 25-year-old, valued at around £30m, was said to have completed a medical at Brighton, with a potential part-exchange deal involving Poland international midfielder Jakub Moder. However, Chelsea matched the financial offer and Dewsbury-Hall is now on his way to the Blues for a contract that reportedly runs until June 2030.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move on X (formerly Twitter), stating that Chelsea will pay a £30m fee to Leicester for Dewsbury-Hall after finalizing talks. Meanwhile, Chelsea teenager Michael Golding is set to move to Leicester in a separate deal, as Moder’s move to the Foxes seems to have hit a snag.
Brighton is said to be frustrated by Dewsbury-Hall’s change of heart after passing a medical, adding to the ongoing saga between the two clubs. The Seagulls are keen to strengthen their midfield under new manager Fabian Hurzeler, following departures and exits of key players last season.
On the bright side, Brighton seems to be making progress in their pursuit of a forward, with reports suggesting a potential club-record signing of Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle for around £33m.
