HEARTBREAKING DEPARTURE: Leeds fans left devastated as ‘Legendary’ player set to leave Elland Road despite shocking last-minute U-turn – Bombshell report drops

Liam Cooper’s time at Leeds United is coming to an end as he has failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension at Elland Road. According to TEAMtalk, sources have revealed that the club captain is unlikely to sign a new deal despite being offered another year.

The 32-year-old, who is highly respected at the club, is pushing for a two-year deal but Leeds United are hesitant to commit for longer as they aim for promotion to the Premier League next season. Cooper’s playing time under Daniel Farke was limited last season, with other defenders like Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, and Ethan Ampadu being preferred over him.

Although it seemed Cooper was on his way out, a last-minute change of heart occurred when Leeds missed out on promotion. However, negotiations over a new deal have hit an impasse and the centre-back is now expected to leave the club.

Cooper’s departure will be a loss for Leeds United, especially in the dressing room where his leadership will be missed. With Rodon returning, there is hope that he can step up and take on some of Cooper’s responsibilities.

Charlie Cresswell, who was seen as the heir apparent to Cooper, was expected to take on a bigger role last season but that did not materialize. With his potential move to Toulouse falling through and Cooper’s exit looming, the club’s plans for the future remain uncertain.
