Tam McManus, a former Scottish top-flight star, has criticized Celtic for offering what he considers a lowball bid to Norwich City for Adam Idah. He also reminded them of the unsuccessful John McGinn transfer saga.
Celtic’s initial £4m plus add-ons bid for Idah was rejected by Norwich, who value the player much higher. Despite plans to make another offer, McManus cautioned Celtic about their transfer tactics possibly backfiring.
Reflecting on Celtic’s failed attempt to sign McGinn, McManus questioned why they continue to undervalue players in negotiations. He fears that if Celtic persist in penny-pinching, Idah may end up at another club willing to meet Norwich’s asking price of £6m.
McManus pointed out Idah’s successful loan spell at Celtic, where he made a strong impact with eleven goal contributions in 19 matches. He believes that if Celtic don’t reconsider their approach, they may miss out on signing promising players like Idah in the future.
