Since 1919, Elland Road has stood as the beloved home of Leeds United. However, in 2004, the stadium was sold off during a challenging financial period for the club, coinciding with their relegation from the Premier League.
Now, 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group LLC has regained full ownership of the stadium. In a statement, the club expressed their excitement at the news, stating that Elland Road Limited is now under the sole ownership of Leeds United Football Club Limited.
After several changes in ownership over the years, including a period under Greenfield Investment Pte Ltd and a subsequent transfer to Elland Road Limited in 2020, 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group LLC now holds full control of both Leeds United Football Club Limited and Elland Road Stadium.
The transfer of ownership was completed in March 2024, returning Elland Road to the club’s hands for the first time since 2004. This move was deemed significant by CEO Angus Kinnear, who highlighted the importance of the stadium being an essential part of Leeds United’s identity.
Furthermore, Elland Road is recognized as an Asset of Community Value, further solidifying its importance to the local community. The stadium’s fixed asset value was reported at £26.2 million, indicating its significance and worth as a landmark in Leeds.
Despite missing out on promotion to the Premier League this season, Leeds United remains committed to their goal of returning to the top flight. With the ownership of Elland Road now secure, the club looks towards a bright future, with the stadium at the heart of their ambitions.
