Leeds All Over has mentioned that even if Kamara does end up leaving, the 49ers plan to bring in a replacement rather than relying solely on Rothwell. This echoes a similar situation from last year when Jaidon Anthony arrived from Bournemouth as a backup option.
Rothwell, who had a successful loan spell at Southampton last season, is seen as a cost-effective option to provide experience to the young Leeds squad at 29 years old. Losing Kamara would be a blow as he performed well last season, and interest in Ilia Gruev from the Bundesliga adds to the uncertainty.
