Celtic has seen a significant number of promising young talents depart for larger clubs in England and across Europe in recent years. The most recent departures, Rocco Vata and Ben Doak, have made strides in their careers since leaving Celtic for Liverpool and Watford, respectively.
However, former player Chris Sutton believes that three other young talents who left Celtic for Bayern Munich and Brest may now be regretting their decisions. Barry Hepburn and Liam Morrison have not seen the success they had hoped for at Bayern Munich, while Karamoko Dembele’s move to Brest has also not panned out as expected.
Sutton points out that Hepburn and Morrison may have expected more playing time and success at their new clubs, while Dembele had the potential to become a star in Scotland or England.
The trend continues with other players like Vincent Angelini and Josh Adam, who were released by Brentford and Man City after failing to make an impact. With the possibility of losing another talented player in Daniel Kelly, Celtic may want to consider the risks of young talents leaving for bigger clubs before signing a new deal.
