Leeds United player is on the verge of joining French side Rennes during the upcoming summer transfer window. The 28-year-old midfielder Glen Kamara arrived at Elland Road last season from Rangers in a £5 million deal and played a crucial role in the team’s Championship campaign with 37 appearances.
Now, Leeds are set to make a profit by selling Kamara to Rennes for a reported fee of £8.6 million. Despite initial reluctance from Leeds to let him go, reports suggest that the transfer is imminent.
Nancy Froston of The Athletic has reported that Leeds are in advanced talks with Rennes over a permanent move for Kamara. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the deal, stating that Kamara will undergo medical tests on Tuesday to finalize the transfer for €10 million.
With Leeds already selling Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur and facing interest in other key players like Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto, manager Daniel Farke will have to work on strengthening the squad for the upcoming season.
One of Leeds’ signings, Joe Rothwell from AFC Bournemouth, is seen as a direct replacement for Kamara. In addition to Rothwell, Leeds have secured deals for goalkeeper Alex Cairns and defender Joe Rodon, while also showing interest in Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle.
