Coventry City are reportedly eyeing a move to sign midfielder Antoine Bernede from Lausanne-Sport this summer, as per Swiss outlet 4-4-2.ch. The Sky Blues have reportedly reached out to Bernede’s representatives to express their interest in the player.
After starting his career at PSG, Bernede moved to RB Salzburg in Austria before joining Lausanne-Sport on loan in January 2023. The move was later made permanent in the summer of the same year.
Coventry’s interest in Bernede comes as Lausanne-Sport seem determined to keep hold of the midfielder. With two years remaining on his contract, a significant offer would likely be needed to secure his services.
Despite Bernede turning down a move to AJ Auxerre, Coventry’s pursuit of the midfielder continues. However, with a strong midfield lineup already in place, signing Bernede could prove to be a costly gamble for the Sky Blues.
As Coventry weigh their options, it will be interesting to see if they push ahead with a move for Bernede or opt to invest in other areas of the squad instead.
