Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Celtic are on the verge of making a new signing as he tackles the ongoing transfer situation at the club. The manager expressed his optimism about Paulo Bernardo’s return to Parkhead on a permanent deal, stating that the transfer is set to be finalized within hours after reaching an agreement with Benfica.
The Portuguese midfielder, who impressed during his loan spell with Celtic last season, is expected to undergo a medical soon. Rodgers also touched upon the potential return of Adam Idah, another loan star from last season, but remained cautious in his response due to the striker’s current situation with Norwich.
Regarding midfielder Matt O’Riley, Rodgers emphasized the importance of receiving the right valuation for the player if he were to leave the club. Despite interest from Atalanta and Southampton, Celtic has not received an offer that meets their expectations.
While Celtic is yet to sign a senior outfield player this summer, Rodgers is confident that the squad will be strengthened before the transfer window closes. He acknowledged the challenges of the transfer market and expressed his desire to have an improved squad by the end of August to face the upcoming season.
