Coventry City have pulled off a major coup by securing the services of talented forward Brandon Thomas-Asante from West Bromwich Albion, beating out Hull City in the process.
Initially thought to be on his way to Hull, Thomas-Asante completed a medical and signed for the Sky Blues after being convinced by first team coach George Boateng, who previously served as an assistant manager for Ghana. While there has been no official confirmation from the club yet, reports suggest that the deal is done.
The 25-year-old impressed in the Championship last season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists for West Brom. Despite interest from multiple clubs, financial constraints led the Baggies to reluctantly accept a £2m bid from Hull, only for the player to choose Coventry instead.
With Boateng’s influence and potential playing opportunities, Thomas-Asante will be looking to make an impact at Coventry as they aim for a strong campaign in the upcoming season. This transfer is seen as a significant development for the Sky Blues, who finished ninth in the Championship last season and made a deep run in the FA Cup.
