Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season games have shown that the team is still united and fully embracing Ange Postecoglou’s vision as they head into his second season in charge.
Postecoglou has openly stated that signing a centre-forward is a priority for Spurs, with Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth being considered as a potential transfer target.
In addition to the search for a striker, Tottenham is also looking to bolster their right-back position, especially with Emerson Royal possibly moving to AC Milan.
Recent reports have linked Spurs with Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode as a replacement for Emerson, with the 20-year-old catching the eye of several other Premier League clubs including Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
Although Fiorentina’s asking price of €30m (£25m) for Kayode may be steep for a player with just one season of Serie A experience, Tottenham is keen on finalizing a deal at a more reasonable fee.
While Kayode may be brought in as a replacement for Emerson, he could also serve as an upgrade to Djed Spence, who has struggled to make an impact at Tottenham since his arrival from Middlesbrough.
Kayode’s performances in Serie A last season highlight his defensive prowess and physicality, making him a potentially valuable addition to Spurs’ backline. His stats also demonstrate his excellence in tackles, placing him among the top full-backs in Europe’s major leagues.
