Jack Harrison has bravely opened up about his decision to embark on another loan spell with Everton this summer, shedding light on his departure from Leeds United.
A year prior, Harrison was among a group of eight players loaned out following Leeds’ fall to the Championship. While some have returned, such as Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober, Harrison made the tough decision to depart once more alongside Rasmus Kristensen.
Despite his integral role in Leeds’ promotion-winning team under Marcelo Bielsa after five years with the club, Harrison’s exit has left a stain on his legacy at Elland Road. He had even been offered a new five-year contract just before their relegation.
In a recent interview, Harrison disclosed that he had been battling chronic injuries during his final month at Leeds, including torn cartilage and a groin tendon issue. He postponed surgery in an attempt to assist the team in avoiding relegation, but ultimately had to undergo an operation over the summer.
Despite facing backlash from fans, Harrison stands by his decision to leave Leeds, asserting, “I gave my all for the club.”
There remains a chance that Everton may secure Harrison on a permanent deal this summer, especially given recent player sales boosting the club’s funds. Transfer expert Graeme Bailey hints at a potential permanent transfer for Harrison before the transfer window closes or in January, particularly if a takeover of the club transpires.
